Chapter 2

1 You therefore,3767 my son,5043 be strong1743 in the grace5485 that is in Christ5547 Jesus.2424

2 And the things that you have heard191 of me among1223 many4183 witnesses,3144 the same5023 commit3908 you to faithful4103 men,444 who3748 shall be able2425 to teach1321 others2087 also.2532

3 You therefore3767 endure2553 hardness,2553 as a good2570 soldier4757 of Jesus2424 Christ.5547

4 No3762 man3762 that wars4754 entangles1707 himself with the affairs4230 of this life;979 that he may please700 him who has chosen4758 him to be a soldier.4758

5 And if1437 a man5100 also2532 strive118 for masteries, yet is he not crowned,4737 except3362 he strive118 lawfully.3545

6 The farmer1092 that labors2872 must1163 be first4413 partaker3335 of the fruits.2590

7 Consider3539 what3739 I say;3004 and the Lord2962 give1325 you understanding4907 in all3956 things.

8 Remember3421 that Jesus2424 Christ5547 of the seed4690 of David1138 was raised1453 from the dead3498 according2596 to my gospel:2098

9 Wherein1722 3757 I suffer2553 trouble,2553 as an evil2557 doer,2557 even to bonds;1199 but the word3056 of God2316 is not bound.1210

10 Therefore I endure5278 all3956 things for the elect's1588 sakes, that they may also2532 obtain5177 the salvation4991 which3588 is in Christ5547 Jesus2424 with eternal166 glory.1391

11 It is a faithful4103 saying:3056 For if1487 we be dead4880 with him, we shall also2532 live4800 with him:

12 If1487 we suffer,5278 we shall also2532 reign4821 with him: if1487 we deny720 him, he also2548 will deny720 us:

13 If1487 we believe569 not, yet he stays3306 faithful:4103 he cannot3756 1410 deny720 himself.1438

14 Of these5023 things put5279 them in remembrance,5279 charging1263 them before1799 the Lord2962 that they strive3054 not about words3054 to no3762 profit,5539 but to the subverting2692 of the hearers.191

15 Study4704 to show3936 yourself4572 approved1384 to God,2316 a workman2040 that needs422 not to be ashamed,422 rightly dividing3718 the word3056 of truth.225

16 But shun4026 profane952 and vain2757 babblings:2757 for they will increase4298 to more4119 ungodliness.763

17 And their word3056 will eat3542 2192 as does a canker:1044 of whom3739 is Hymenaeus5211 and Philetus;5372

18 Who3748 concerning4012 the truth225 have erred,795 saying3004 that the resurrection386 is past1096 already;2235 and overthrow396 the faith4102 of some.5100

19 Nevertheless3305 the foundation2310 of God2316 stands2476 sure,4731 having2192 this5026 seal,4973 The Lord2962 knows1097 them that are his. And, Let every3956 one that names3687 the name3686 of Christ5547 depart868 from iniquity.93

20 But in a great3173 house3614 there are not only3440 vessels4632 of gold5552 and of silver,693 but also2532 of wood3585 and of earth;3749 and some3588 3303 to honor,5092 and some3588 to dishonor.819

21 If1437 a man5100 therefore3767 purge1571 himself1438 from these,5130 he shall be a vessel4632 to honor,5092 sanctified,37 and meet2173 for the master's1203 use, and prepared2090 to every3956 good18 work.2041

22 Flee5343 also1161 youthful3512 lusts:1939 but follow1377 righteousness,1343 faith,4102 charity,26 peace,1515 with them that call1941 on1941 the Lord2962 out of a pure2513 heart.2588

23 But foolish3474 and unlearned521 questions2214 avoid,3868 knowing1492 that they do engender1080 strifes.3163

24 And the servant1401 of the Lord2962 must1163 not strive;3164 but be gentle2261 to all3956 men, apt1317 to teach,1317 patient,420

25 In meekness4236 instructing3811 those3588 that oppose475 themselves; if3379 God2316 peradventure3379 will give1325 them repentance3341 to the acknowledging1922 of the truth;225

26 And that they may recover366 themselves out of the snare3803 of the devil,1228 who are taken2221 captive2221 by him at1519 his will.2307

1 小子爾賴基督耶穌恩、當剛健、

2 我於諸證者前、傳道於爾、宜托忠信者、俾能教衆、

3 譬猶基督耶穌之勁卒、爾當勞苦、

4 凡爲卒者、不以世故憧擾、致悅募己者、

5 力爭而不循矩矱、則不得冠冕之賞、

6 農必先力穡、而後得物產、

7 我所言、當思之、願主賜爾敏於庶事、

8 當憶我所傳之福音、言大闢裔耶穌基督死而甦、

9 爲此、我受苦見繫、如犯法者、然上帝道、不可得而繫、

10 我爲選民忍難、使彼賴基督耶穌得救、永與厥榮、

11 有一言可信者、若同死、必同生、

12 若同忍難、必同乘權、我若拒主、主必拒我、

13 我雖不信、主無不信、必不食言、

14 爾以是道、俾人强識、主前諭衆、勿言啓爭端、不第無益、且足以惑聽聞、

15 務能悅於上帝、爲操作、無愧作、善頒眞理、

16 當棄諸妄論浮詞、因浸久弊必叢滋、

17 其言譬諸瘡痏、蔓延厥體、有若許米乃、腓理徒、

18 棄眞理、言復生之事旣往、故數人之信爲所傾圮、

19 雖然、上帝之道、其址鞏固、有印誌云、主知厥民、又云、呼基督名者、當遠諸惡、

20 廣厦之中、其器不第金銀、亦有木瓦、或爲器之貴、或爲器之賤、

21 若人潔己去私、則成貴重之器、皭然適乎主用、備諸善行、

22 戒血氣之欲、從仁、義信、與清心籲主名者相睦、

23 當擯愚魯弗學之辯、蓋知爭競由是而生、

24 惟主之僕勿爭競、必慈以處衆、施教則善、受侮則忍、

25 逆理者、迪以柔和、庶上帝錫以悛心、俾識眞理、

26 雖罹魔鬼之網、爲其所惑、致逞厥志、亦可儆醒以得救。
